Code Breakdown

• First digit (6): Indicates complete protection against dust. The device is fully sealed and does not allow the entry of solid particles.
• Second digit (5): Indicates resistance to water jets. The equipment can withstand low-pressure water jets from any direction without functional damage.

Applications and Scope

This certification is common in consumer electronics, such as mobile phones and tablets, as well as in industrial equipment exposed to environments with moisture or dust. Its presence in a product confirms that the manufacturer has validated these resistance specifications.

Limitations and Interpretation

It is important to correctly interpret the scope of this standard:

• Not submersible: The IP65 classification does not guarantee that the device can be submerged in water; it only resists jets.
• Test conditions: The certification is based on specific laboratory tests and does not necessarily reflect wear from prolonged use in real extreme conditions.

When finding the mention of IP65 in a product's technical sheet, it should be understood as a guarantee of moderate weather resistance, suitable for daily outdoor use or environments with a risk of splashes and dust, but not for immersion.
